Wegwartehof
Wegwartehof is a small, fine Demeter farm in the upper Waldviertel. It is located on the Wild plateau, a large, rugged forest area on the northern edge of one of Austria's most beautiful nature reserves.

Mare's milk production, horse husbandry and riding weeks
The Wegwartehof farm in Merkenbrechts has been farmed biodynamically according to Demeter guidelines for over 30 years. The farm has gained a special reputation for producing mare's milk, growing medicinal and aromatic herbs and organising riding weeks for children and adults. The Haflinger mares and their foals live in species-appropriate conditions in spacious loose stables and extensive pastures, which reflects their balanced nature and contentment. The mare's milk is produced by hand and is very laborious, as a mare only gives about 2 litres per day, which underlines the preciousness of this product.
Herbs | Processing
The farm also offers an impressive variety of herbs that are carefully processed by hand - from fragrant teas and herbal salts to the raw materials for the Wegwartehof cosmetics line. These high-quality products are marketed directly and reflect the close connection between nature and craftsmanship. On excursions, visitors experience the colours, scents and flavours of the herbs that make each experience unique.
Seminars and retreats
A 150 m² seminar room dating back to 1894 is available for seminars and conferences for up to 50 people. Modernly equipped with high-speed internet, a projector and other amenities, it is an ideal place for education and dialogue, especially in the winter and spring months. Five ecological holiday flats with their own terrace, organic bed linen and their own electricity from the photovoltaic system offer space for up to four people. With a view of the paddocks and the Waldviertel countryside, they invite you to relax, work from home or take a pleasant break. Sustainability and hospitality make the Wegwartehof a special place for relaxation and inspiration.
