Reinsaat GmbH

"Reinsaat" preserves the diversity of nature and shapes the future of agriculture with over 700 seed-resistant varieties - a vision has given rise to a unique farm in the Waldviertel. A dedicated team and international co-operations make Reinsaat a farm that invites you to discover and marvel.

In 1970, Reinhild Frech-Engelmann acquired a 3-hectare farm. She knew from the outset that she would farm biodynamically. At the time, it was the first and only Demeter farm in the region. The self-sufficient farm became "Reinsaat" in 1998 and Reinhild always had the vision and goal of growing "seeds as a germ for healing the world". It took a lot of patience and perseverance to get the farm to this size. Growing and developing seed-resistant biodynamic vegetable seeds under the harsh climatic conditions of the Waldviertel is something special.

Yes, it is a large company, with over 50 employees from 10 nations, but Reinsaat's work preserves biodiversity and the conservation of old vegetable varieties. They exclusively breed more than 700 "seed-resistant vegetable, herb and flower varieties from organic and biodynamic cultivation to combat the loss of biodiversity. There are numerous co-operations with propagation companies in 9 countries, which significantly support seed production.

Two years ago, Reinhild placed the management of the business in younger hands. Her daughter Maria Bödecker and business economist Rafael Graf, a friend of the family, will lead Reinsaat into the future.
